IWhy We Gather

The future is arriving faster than we can understand it.

New technologies are changing how we work, create, govern, learn, connect, and understand ourselves. Most conferences respond with more presentations, more predictions, and more noise.

Emergence creates space instead of filling every moment. A rapidly changing world requires somewhere to slow down, encounter unfamiliar perspectives, and think about what is changing before deciding what it should become.

Three questions will guide the afternoon.

Not questions we expect to answer. Questions worth sitting with.

    What is changing that we're not paying enough attention to?

    What do we want to remain distinctly human?

    What is worth building next?

IIIWhat Makes Emergence Different

Each question moves through the same rhythm.

Voices

For each question, several people from radically different backgrounds offer brief perspectives from where they stand. A scientist may see something an artist doesn't. A teenager may notice something a CEO has missed. The purpose is not expertise or answers. It is perspective.

Pause

When the Voices finish, nothing happens immediately. No reaction. No next speaker. No rush to respond. Participants are given something increasingly rare: time to actually think. The slight discomfort of that silence is intentional.

Conversation

Then the room takes over. Participants gather around small, intentionally curated tables with people who may not see the world the same way they do. Simple prompts provide a place to begin. No forced networking. No requirement to reach consensus.

Reflection

Before leaving each question, participants leave behind a thought, tension, disagreement, or possibility they don't want the room to lose. Those fragments accumulate through the afternoon, creating a record of what emerged from this particular collection of people.

    A room designed for curiosity rather than consumption. Coffee. Light food. Conversation. Space to settle in.

    Notice

    Radically different perspectives on what is changing that we're not paying enough attention to. Pause. Think. Converse. Reflect.

  3. 03

    Interlude

    Nothing programmed. Coffee. Movement. Fresh air. Continue a conversation. Read what others have left behind. Or simply think.

  4. 04

    Discern

    Return to the room and explore what we want to remain distinctly human. Voices. Pause. Conversation. Reflection.

  5. 05

    Interlude

    Another intentional space between questions. The empty space is part of the experience.

  6. 06

    Build

    The final question: what is worth building next? Different Voices. Another pause. Another conversation. A final reflection.

  7. 07

    Gather

    The formal structure falls away. Food arrives. Drinks are poured. Music comes up. Conversations continue without an agenda.

The gathering is one moment in a longer inquiry.

Questions developed throughout the year enter the room. Ideas and reflections generated during Emergence become part of D!srupt's ongoing exploration.

Some become essays. Some become experiments. Some become partnerships. Some simply change how we think.

Participants are not attending an event—they are contributing to an exploration that continues beyond the room.

Emergence 2026 is limited to fifty to sixty participants. The composition of the room matters.

We are bringing together people with different experiences, disciplines, generations, professions, and ways of seeing the world. The goal is not exclusivity. The goal is difference: sitting across the table from someone you would not normally encounter.

We're looking for curious people willing to contribute, not simply attend. Every request is read carefully.
